LEAVING ASHES: Burning of houses is a systematically practice by Burmese army in their campaign against Karen civilian, to leave the displaced people with nothing. This is the tactic in order to force the people to surrender to the army or give up and move into forced relocation sites. But, many displaced people choose to remain in hiding and escape Burmese troops rather than move to forced relocation sites. Many said it is better than living under Burmese army control.
