A group of villagers, with a forced relocation camp in the background beside car roads, in eastern Mergui. These villagers were forced to construct the car-road for the army. Nearly every Karen village in Mergui-Tavoy District (the same in Karen State and other ethnic areas especially eastern Burma) were uprooted by Burmese army and forcibly relocated sites near the car road. Such relocation camps make it is easier for the army to force villagers to build roads, bridges, army posts etc.
